My Cork Board Project

For years I've collected corks...

...hasn't everyone?

And, for years, I've wanted to do something with them...
...hasn't everyone?

So, I finally bought one.

Inside measurements: 21" x 22"
Side by side that's about 26 corks

I ran thread corner to corner
both ways to use as a guide
and was reminded that not
all corks are created equal.

I laid out a couple of
patterns before gluing.

When satisfied, I began
gluing each cork
i
ndividually into place.
357 corks were used.

This was my first attempt but
it didn't impress me.

This is the final pattern; aligned and symmetrical
but there was more to do.

I was not satisfied with the open spaces
around the perimeter. So, with the left over
corks, it was time to cut and fit small
pieces into those spaces.

Yes, you can do this when you have
a lot of time of your hands.  Hey,
don't knock retirement.

A last minute check
for alignment.

You can reflect on a lot of good
memories while looking at a wine cork.

Yes, this is what I wanted.

The final product and a lot of fond memories

2015 Season of Travel

Greetings and Welcome Back to
Another Season of Adventures with
"Winnie & Me"

I am looking forward to continuing my journal/blog that documents people, places, and things that I find interesting and worthy of sharing.

I've changed the "look" of my blog for the new season; a slightly different format.

With the help of fellow blogger and (full time) RVer, Vicki, I will try to finally add maps and show the states I've visited (see below).  I would also like to insert a map of where I am at any given time.

But first comes the task of de-winterizing.  I am trying to secure a site at nearby Croton Point RV park for the end of April or early May to do this.  In addition, our 3,100+ mile, 51 day "Winter Adventure" saw plenty of rainfall, wet roads, and misty spray provided by the 18-wheelers that sped past on our way back north.   A good washing is in order and, as you know, you don't drive RVs through the local car wash.

I'm hoping also to have my local blog readers take advantage of my open invitation to stop by and visit during my stay at the Croton Point RV Park; the dates are provided below.  Drop a line to my email address or write a comment so we can plan a get-together.  And finally, I'm curious to see if anyone who places their email address in the space provided in the upper right panel will receive these blogs. If you do, let me know and I'll remove you from my group mailing and you won't receive duplicate emails.

The following updated itinerary for the "2015 Summer Adventure" is current as of April 18th. As time and circumstance permit, I'd like to fill the gaps with mini-trips throughout the tri-state area:

I hope you enjoy reading my journals and viewing my photographs as much as I enjoy capturing and writing about them.  More later.
