Hampton Beach State Park - 05-22-2015 - 05-29-2015

Well, here I am in New Hampshire, 4½ hours and 235 miles after leaving Croton Point's RV Park. It's state #10 that I've visited (and slept in.  Passing through doesn't count).  The weather that greeted me at 2:30 pm was overcast, the temperature is 62°, and breezy enough to prevent me from extending my awning...at least for the overnight hours.
The ride was most pleasant and very scenic. The traffic was civilized and flowed nicely.  The idiots I'm accustomed to were perhaps still at their party getting the most out of their day.  My worry that the entire world would be heading home after the Memorial Day weekend changed to a pleasant surprise when I saw that the northbound traffic was light vs. southbound, which was very heavy. The trip was mainly via Interstates: 684 to 84 to 90 to 290 to 495 to a short piece of I-95 before cutting across of state road 286 to Route 1A.  It here that the little know fact about New Hampshire surprises folks.  New Hampshire has the shortest coastline of all the states: 13 miles.

This state park, one of 20, is located on the Hampton River and has only 28 campsites with full hook-ups (electricity, water, sewer) and 50 sites for dry camping.  All 28 are occupied:

The night will be filled with noise of traffic going over the grating of the drawbridge; the faster they go, the higher the pitch.  The motorcycles are the worst.  Very noisy and hundreds of them.  No matter, Winnie and I will be gently rocked to sleep with the constant breeze coming off the ocean to our south. Here are some photos taken so far:

Winnie is backed up right to river bank

Each site has its own fire pit made of river rocks

The great lens on my camera allows a good view
of homes across the Hampton River.

My first meal at Ocean Wok.  Appetizer: scallion pancakes.....

...then General Tso shrimp.  Had enough of each to
take home for tomorrow night's meal.

Hampton River emptying into the Atlantic.

More photos tomorrow.

  1. Looks interesting. Too bad about the noise from the bridge. What is the main attraction, fishing, beaches??? Glad you were able to find a sushi place, albeit no sushi on your plate. Enjoy, have fun and stay safe.
